ARCTIC FOX ARE TOP DOGS AT SWIMMING GALA |
| Posted by Simon Baker-Irons on Feb 06 2011 |
It is with immense pride that I report an outstanding performance at the HMS RALEIGH Swimming Gala this weekend by Arctic Fox Explorer Scouts.
Individual success was:
Oliver Grubb U16 Freestyle 1st
Rachel Farrant U16 Backstroke 2nd
Kerrie Lewis U18 Backstroke 3rd
Tom Holland U18 Breastroke 1st
Matthew Farrant U18 Freestyle 2nd
As a team they managed to:
Win the U18 Medley Relay
Come 2nd in the U16 Medley Relay
Come 2nd in the Freestyle Relay
And best of all WIN the Explorer Trophy (Best overall points performance).
A bag full of plaques, an award tray and very large cup were returned to Felpham this evening along with 6 tired but proud Explorer Scouts.
As a national event this really was a great achievement but if we are to attempt to defend our awards next year we will need to work hard as competition and a desire for payback is high, especially with Hamble Sea Scouts whom we trumped!!
The Explorers behaved impeccably and also enjoyed reaching the semi final of a soccer tournament on the Saturday afternoon. Two unsung heroes of the soccer arena were Matt (Rooney) Farrant and Kerrie (Bend it like Beckham) Lewis who appeared to be everywhere on the pitch at any given time!
The weekend was a great occasion and we should like to thank Chris Boreham and the Felpham Scouts who supported us in deafening audible tones throughout the event. A final thank you to Oliver Lewis who attended the event as an Event Team Leader and assumed some considerable responsibility in the accommodation block.
